Initiative

First of all, when I entered Al Qasimi College, I was aware of my ability to speak English. I barely had the chance to speak English in high school and never met anyone whose a native English speaker. I have always considered that my English is rather average and that it is not easy for me to improve much even when I enter college. But as I got into college and spoke the language more often with each course, I felt more confident in my abilities and my accent. But the big changing point was when I met the foreign students from America and Canada at Salem Preparatory School, the school where I started my first practicum.
An initiative that took place between Al-Qasimi College and Kivunim and Salem Preparatory School, in which 40 students from Kivunim from America and Canada attended Salem School to attend two main activities of this initiative the icebreaker and personality type. The icebreaker activity consists of questions or discussions to get to know the opposite person and to break the barrier of a new culture. Therefore, I began to talk to the students about various matters. During the dialogue, I realized that I am now speaking fluently and without difficulty in understanding people who do not speak Arabic, which was quite surprising to me.
When the day ended, I felt excited and happy since I discovered I had more capabilities than I imagined. Therefore, I consider this initiative as an unrepeated experience. I have tried many new and interesting things, and I came out of it with great benefits that I did not expect. Therefore, I wished that this initiative got repeated, even once more.
